Since 1948, the Rockford Speedway has delighted fans that have watched races along the high-banked quarter mile oval track, or attended the many concerts, circuses, car shows, and other events. Loves Park is also the home of Road Ranger Stadium where the Frontier League’s Rockford River Hawks play minor league baseball games. Throughout the year, additional celebrations and festivals continue to bring the community together in Loves Park, including the annual “Young at Heart Festival” held over the Memorial Day weekend.
Machesney Park, also located in Winnebago County and just north of Loves Park along the Rock River, has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Incorporated as a village in 1981, residential development along with the completion of the interchange ramp at I-90 and IL 173 has bolstered commercial development, making Machesney Park one of the Rockford metropolitan area’s most sought-after places to live.
Today, fewer than 25,000 people live in Machesney Park, helping to create one of north central Illinois greatest small communities with unreached potential.
